Short Letter

September 17, 2012

Dear Familia,

Well first off it is Rosh Hashanah or however you spell it so all the libraries are closed for the next few days. Interesting New York thing, schools and everything get closed for the Jewish holidays. We are emailing at the church but there is only one computer for six of us so they will have to be pretty short. Everything is still going pretty well with our people. All still super busy. This week we've picked up two old investigators that the elders before us were teaching so we will see how they go. One has been investigating for months and months and wants to get baptized, but he is just waiting for a miracle to get him to move out from his girlfriend's house. But he seems a little more determined now so we will see how he goes. Ari and Luis are still moving nicely.

And ya, it hurts when I hear that some of the people I helped bring into the church are now falling away.  Retention is really hard in New York.

We get fed probably around five times a week. None of the food is really weird. If you want a taste of typical Central American fare (which is most of what we get here and in Jamaica) you can go down to Center Street in Provo just west of University Ave and there is a restaurant called El Salvador, go there and get some Pupusas. Good stuff.

That's about all I have time for this week. Hopefully I can fill in some more details next week,

Love you,
Elder Pearce
