January 28, 2013
Alright, so ya this week was pretty cold, and we have gotten
snow only twice this year. But luckily I did get a car again so it has been nice.
And it's a 2013 Subaru Legacy with all-wheel drive so it hasn't had any
problems in the snow. And don't worry mom, I have been wearing my sweater and
my winter coat to keep warm. That will probably stop now though, it is supposed
to get up into the fifties this week.
So this
past week was pretty good. We met with Scott a few more times and finished
getting him ready for baptism. We had his interview yesterday after church and
he is still doing great. Everything looks ready to go. It is next Sunday at 6:00.
We were also able to meet with
Lisa (Terrance wasn't there) with the Phillips (the senior couple) and that
went really well. She started talking about how much it is going to rock her
church when she converts, because right now she is a Sunday school teacher, a
Eucharist minister, and a few other things at her church. She talked about how
she thinks church shouldn't just be a Sunday thing, it should be part of every
aspect of your life. She is exactly what this branch needs, and Elder Phillips
started getting so excited that he started explaining all the auxiliary
organizations and how the meetings work on Sundays and just throwing a bunch of information at her that just ended up confusing her but it went well. Once
we can get Terrance over his fears of leaving Catholicism (he has been an
active Catholic his whole life) then they are going to be such a
pillar of this branch. Now we just need to meet with him. Lisa is ready for
baptism and we could get a solid date with her whenever we wanted. We are
waiting for Terrance. It is always better to do things as a family.
Then on Saturday it was really cool because the branch was
having a temple day, and they didn't have enough Melchizedek Priesthood to go
do baptisms with the youth, so they asked us. We called up President Calderwood
and he gave all of us the green light to head up so we ended up having a
surprise temple trip. It was really fun. I helped out mostly with confirmations
and as a witness for the baptisms so I didn't get wet but I'm fine with that.
Then the rest of the day I was on exchanges with Elder [Tanner] LeBaron who I
went to Timpanogos with so that was fun. We didn't really know each other but
it's fun looking at mutual friends and stuff.
You can let Connor know that we
finally had that dinner and that caterpillars are only slightly better fried. I
don't know, I think that's just a texture you must have to get used to.
Well I think that's it,
Love you all,
Elder Pearce
