First Letter from NYC

November 22, 2011

Dear Familia,

I'm here.  We got here and almost immediately went to a mall in Queens.  We did street contacts or "fearless" as they call them.  I wasn't so fearless, but it was actually kind of cool.  I was kind of surprised by how nice a lot of the people were, especially because of how ghetto it was.  From what I saw, most of Queens is pretty ghetto.  But there are a ton of Hispanics.  I think they said there are more Spanish missionaries here than English.  They also said the Hispanics absolutely love feeding missionaries.  They often get 3 or 4 meal appointments a day.  President Nelson says that I will learn how to kindly say no.  And he does remember you pretty well, mom.

The missionaries say they have taught people from every Latin American country while they have been here.  And President Nelson said that if you know where to look you can find people from just about every country in the world.  It's pretty crazy here.  I really hope I don't have to drive here.  You need to be more fearless for that than for street contacts.  We were in the big twelve passenger mission van and there were quite a few times where I was thinking, "how did we just hit that gap"?  Anyway, I've gotta wrap this up.

Love you guys,
Elder Pearce

P.S.  President Nelson says hi and he is shocked that mom is a grandmother.
