Fearlessing

April 9, 2012

Dear Familia,

Nice Connor! That's awesome that you got on student council! Is Panee the Science Demo instructor still? If he is you will get on for sure.

We found five new investigators this week.  Two from street contacting (fearlessing as we call it in this mission), and a family we found from knocking.  That family we will hopefully get some more though.  We have only talked to the kids (two 15 year olds and one that is 17 or 18).  We still can meet their parents, and we think that they have some extended family there too.  But fearlessing as much as we have, we meet a lot of crazy people, especially in Jamaica, home of the crazies.

On Friday, Elder Sanford and I fearlessed 3 bashers. We weren't getting much information from people.  It wasn't going too well. Then we decided to knock a building before we called it a night and we got I think 12 or 13 names out of it (which is a ton), including the daughter of the aforementioned family, who we went back and taught Sunday.  Tuesday we went out and we probably got 15-20 names all from fearlesses.  And two of the people we fearlessed invited us into their houses to teach them (which is really weird, this is Jamaica New York, you don't invite random people into your apartments.)

Other crazy stuff, we knocked into a troll.  He was a fat hairy guy (he also didn't have on any pants, luckily his shirt was long enough to cover most of it).  He only spoke in grunts.  The only thing we understood was grholghomrbiaghr (Colombia, I don't know how we understood it either). But ya he wasn't interested in our message.  After him we started knocking the next door and our troll friend started to growl at us from his room, so we left.  Ya there's a lot of fun stuff in Jamaica.

But this place has a ton of potential, we just have to go get it. Just a few more Melchezidek Priesthood holders and it will become a ward.  And once Jamaica Spanish becomes a ward, then they will make the Jamaica Stake with the English and Spanish wards, plus some of Long Island.  So this is a really exciting time to be here.

Love you guys,
Elder Pearce
