Dear Familia,
Well this week hasn't been super eventful. We have
still done a lot of fearlessing and knocking, but not as much as before.
Now we are more to the stage of following up on all of the names we received,
see who's legit. And thanks to a few couples, we got nine new
investigators this week, which is the most I have ever got. We also have
one baptismal date from an eleven year old girl whose mom is a member and her
13 year old brother just got baptized. Unfortunately the mom married an
anti-mormon and he is not too supportive of his children. And the mom
doesn't do a very good job of encouraging her kids so we could have some
problems when the date gets closer.
Let's see, Elder Trejo went home Friday. Along with
some other mission legends. Elder Crawford's (who plays o-line for BYU,
probably about 6-6 300 lbs) family came up to pick him up. They are all
tall, but twigs. It was kind of funny seeing them together.
Oh and yes I already knew about President Nelson's
homecoming party because Elder Trejo had started planning it before he went
home. He was an event planner before the mission. I haven't had too
much personal interaction with President Nelson. But I do know he completely
changed this mission. First off the day he retired President Eyring went
to his house and asked him to be a mission president. When he got here
the missionaries all hated him because the president before was pretty lenient
and President Nelson clamped down on a lot of their fun. Now our mission has a
fraction of the many problems it had before and the church uses it as a testing
ground for mission programs. President and Sister Nelson get emails from
other mission presidents around the world for advice on how to better their own
missions. So even though I don't know him that well, I know I am very
lucky to have had him as a president.
Well I think that's all for this week.
Love you guys,
Elder Pearce
