Proselyting in Brooklyn

March 11, 2013

Alright, new library, not quite as crowded, let's see what we can do here.

So this week we managed to teach some lessons. The Elders before us were teaching a family here that they told us a bit about. We were finally able to get in contact with them and they are super cool. We taught them twice this last week and we have a very loose baptismal date with the wife already. The husband won't be too far behind either. It is really funny watching him in the lessons though, just for how much he progresses over the course of a half hour visit. The first time we went over he told us that he was not interested in learning about the church at all. He was fine if we taught his wife but just let him be. Then he stayed and participated for the whole lesson and committed to read and pray about the Book of Mormon. Then the next lesson he started off by saying alright I'm going to learn too, just take it really slow, I don't want to pray or anything and don't try to put a lot on me at once. Then at the end of the lesson he volunteered to say the closing prayer. It is funny but it's cool.

Other than that not a whole lot has been happening. The bishop came back from Mexico this week so we were finally able to meet with him and get a little feedback on what he wants us to do and with whom he wants us to work. We also expanded the elliptical a little farther north so I have been able to try and find some of my old investigators. Haven't had a ton of success with that yet but there is one family that we taught that I think has a lot of potential if we can find them at home. I talked to one of the sons so I know they still live there, it's just a matter of finding them home.

So to answer your questions:

We are apartment 6F [483 Ocean Parkway, Brooklyn, NY]. Also if you would like to see the area a little more on google earth, the church is at 1216 Glenwood Rd. The elliptical goes from Ave. H in the south to Caton Ave in the north. And from Coney Is. Ave in the west to Ocean Ave in the east. Just if you wanted to see what I see every day.

The wedding in Far Rock last week was for Ruth Morales. You know her as Millie Cruz. She is a member from the ward there.

I think that's about it for this week.

Love you guys,
Elder Pearce
