Dear Familia,
Well Mom you are right that transfers are coming up. In fact
I am leaving Jamaica tomorrow. I thought Midwood went quick but it seems like I
was here half that length. Every transfer seems to follow that pattern. Half as
long as the one before it. It was fun here. Really hard but I met a lot of cool
people.
I won't get to say goodbye to Jenny and her family. We tried
to guilt trip them into coming to church by saying that it was probably going
to be my last time seeing them but it didn't work. Not even Jenny was there
which means that they probably went out to do something. Jenny is really intent
on returning to full activity, though she needs to get married for that to
happen. Good news - the "problem member" is moving soon so hopefully
that will make it easier for them to come. The branch president said that there
have apparently been problems in the past.
Anyway the guesses for where I am going so far are to Rego
Park (Elder Denton) or to Long Island somewhere (Elder Mikkelsen and Anderson).
I kind of have a feeling I will be going to the Island too. Either way I am
kind of excited to start a new area. It went really quick but I feel like it's
my time to go.
I tried to send the pictures this week but I lost my
flashdrive at church. Apparently one of the English Ward members who was
cleaning the church has it. So it may be a while before I can get that back to
send out. I might just send what I have on the memory card for now.
So English class has started to reap rewards now. On Tuesday
we were talking to a mom and daughter who had been attending and they told us
that they were baptized in Guatemala. We visited them and they said that they
wanted to come back to church. So that could be cool. What else has happened...
this has been kind of a quiet week. On Saturday we went to a party at a recent
converts house. It was her Down Syndrome daughter's birthday. I didn't get too
many good pictures for Rachel, sorry. I was waiting until they did the piƱata
or some games to take some pictures but we had to leave before they started all
that.
Anyway last week I forgot to finish the AC story. Last
Monday right before we came to do email some actual AC technicians came to fix
it. Immediately they diagnosed the biggest problem. The building installed bad
grills on the backs of the AC's that don't allow proper air intake so the
compressors overheat. That is why it will blow cold air for a bit then hot air.
The compressor in our room is totally blown out. They will need to replace it
once they change the grills. When that will happen I don't really know but it doesn't
really matter to me anymore cause I am gone tomorrow morning.
The talk to "everything that moves" method has
been hampered a bit by the weather. When it is raining there aren't as many
people out in the streets and those that are generally don't want to stop and
talk.
I think that's about it for now. Like I said it was kind of
a slow week.
Love you guys,
Elder Pearce
