Dear Familia,
Alright well if all goes according to plan the flashdrive
should be in the mail by the end of the day. This computer is really slow
though and all the pictures might not transfer over in time. Alright so this was a pretty good week. On
Tuesday I got all the packages at our zone conference (which was really good),
and everything somehow survived even though it was in the back of a
missionary's car for 3 days.
Anyway so Tuesday night we went to look someone up and when
we got out of the elevator Elder Denton turned the wrong way down the hall and
went and knocked on a member's door on that floor. I walked over and they
opened the door with birthday hats and stuff on and I started wondering whose
birthday it was... oh wait... It really doesn't feel like a birthday on the mission.
But ya they organized a surprise party for me so that was pretty cool. I just
met this family for the first time the night before and they are already
throwing surprise parties for me. This branch has some of the best members I
have met on my mission.
Then on Wednesday we had a good day. Not much was really
happening all morning or afternoon then our dinner appointment was getting
close so we just headed over there. We got there about fifteen minutes early so
we just decided to knock a few doors before we went in. We got in the elevator
and pushed the button for the sixth floor then we were just going to start at
the top and work our way down but the elevator opened on the fifth floor to let
someone in and we got out on accident and figured we would just knock there. The
second door we knock a guy lets us in and he seems really interested. We are
meeting with him again this week so that was a good tender mercy. Plus our
DA forgave us for being a half hour late. Then that night it was about 8:30 and
we figured alright let's just get one more lookup then just work around there,
so we looked this potential up and he was there and let us in and he looks
super good too. So two new investigators and both of them good.
On Thursday we had another really good day. We met with two
less actives and then that night we went to look someone up (that guy that
lives in the Bronx) and he wasn't there so we just decided to knock his floor.
We knock on a door and this guy lets us in and he is just the ideal missionary
find. A couple (actually married which is really rare) with kids (two baptismal
age). When he lived in Guatemala he went to church by himself every Sunday at
age 7 and loved it, still remembers a few of the basics. If we can meet with
them regularly than they could be the family that every missionary just dreams
of. So we are super excited about them.
Friday was an average day. Saturday was still good (by the
end of the day, not at the beginning), just not as good as our Saturdays have
been. We started out the morning walking out to our car only to realize we have
a flat. so we power walk about a mile to our appointment, who is not there, so
we walk a mile back and throw on the spare tire. So it is not even 11 AM and we
are already super hot and sweaty. We met with a few people in the afternoon who
we have met with other Saturdays. Still haven't progressed too much. We gave
Mariluz the drop talk so she promised she would read and we should come
back Sunday. We then went to meet with Rosario, who we met with before, and my
sugars were low in the lesson. I could not organize any of the thoughts in my
head so Elder Denton pretty much taught the lesson on his own, which luckily
for me he is just fine with. We ran home after and got some sugar to eat but the blood
monitor said I was at 91 which was weird. I was in the fiftys or sixtys with
the way I was feeling. Luckily that doesn't happen too often. Yesterday we went
and met with Mariluz again and she had actually read which was good. She really
wants to know and she recognizes what she is doing wrong in her life. So
hopefully she will continue to progress.
Now today we will hopefully get a chance to relax a little
since we missed out on that last week. And tomorrow morning we will take to car
to Pep Boys because it is a struggler. Our '96 Jeep with 100,000+ ran better
than this 2010 Corolla with 40,000. Ah well it gets us from point A to point B.
Well I think that's about it for this week.
Love you guys,
Elder Pearce
