Easter

Alright so this week has been a little different from the rest.

On Monday we had arranged for a member to come with us to the C family. He came and then we went to their door and they weren't there. This is the first time that they have juked an appointment. Those are always really embarrassing when the members go out of their way to come teaching with you. We aren't really sure what happened yet. We are assuming they just forgot but we haven't had time to contact them again this week to see what happened. We are going to go over there tonight so hopefully they will be there.

Most of our spare time this week was filled with one of two activities: We are starting to heart-attack all of the members of the ward.  They have been trying really hard to get more involved in missionary work and we wanted to show our appreciation; and getting ready for a movie night that we did on Friday. We were going to watch "Hop" for Easter and we were hoping to get a bunch of kids from the community to come. We have been advertising a ton for that. All of the people we talk to in the street, all of the doors we knock, everything. Then came Friday night and what should happen but nobody came but some members. That's alright. The ward really likes the idea so we are going to keep doing them once or twice a month. We are also going to be starting English Classes soon. I have had quite a bit of experience with that now so we should hopefully be able to get those up and running pretty smoothly.

That's about all of the exciting news for the week. Still mostly just trying to find new investigators. This has been the first time since my first transfer (not counting the hurricane transfer) that we have gone an entire transfer without finding any new investigators. But that's alright, we have enough to keep us busy. Another interesting note, our entire zone is staying the same this transfer. It helps that all but two companionships in the zone are training. There is a chance that they move in a new companionship. With the increase of missionaries it is pretty likely that in the next transfer or two we have four companionships here.

In answer to your question, there is a chance that I will stay here for the remainder of my mission. President Calderwood likes to leave missionaries in areas for longer periods of time. If I do stay here that would be half my mission. I love Midwood but that is a lot of time. I would like to go back to Rockaway before I finish though.

Hey Dad last week we were at a member's house and he was watching the news and an article came on about a new thing called Biohub, which was essentially a cure for type-1 diabetes. Do you know anything about that? The news was in Spanish and so I missed some of the more technical stuff. They said it would be a few years still before it clears the FDA and all that though. The member was super excited because he is diabetic too, but I didn't have the heart to tell him that throwing extra insulin-producing cells into his body is not going to do too much for his type-2. Ah well.

Love you,
Elder Pearce
