Well this week was pretty nice.
I'll just start off with the Restoration concert again. So
last Monday night we got a call from the Bishop asking us for a favor but in
the conversation he mentioned that he would not be able to attend the concert, they
had family things going on. Alright, we were going to have him bear his testimony at the end but that is easy to replace. Wait, family stuff, so is his
daughter going to be able to attend? She is our solo on Be Still My Soul and
the soprano on I Know That My Redeemer Lives. And there are no other sopranos.
Uh Oh. So we spent most of Tuesday creating backup plans in case she
wasn't going to be there. It didn't help that her phone was off all day. But
she came through for us in the end. Just a nice scare to start the week.
Scare number two, on Wednesday we talked to one of the sisters from the relief
society and asked her if she were going to be there on Saturday. She said yeah,
she is in charge of it. Turns out that the relief society also were going to
have an activity on Saturday Night. Blegh. Who let the Relief Society schedule
an activity the same night as ours. We had to get the bishop to intervene but
the sisters wouldn't back down so they had to strike a deal. It was going to be
a cooking night, so everything they made was to be refreshments after the
concert. Whatever. Someone also ended up buying a bunch of teas for the
refreshments too. When I walked in after they had served a few glasses I had to
casually sneak over and take all the teas from the table and pour them down the
sink. Nice people.
So yeah we spent most of the week either hammering out last
minute details or advertising for the concert. So as for the concert itself, it
went really well. Not a huge attendance but there were a few non-members and
less actives there. Everyone really enjoyed it. I should be getting the
recordings from one of the sisters soon. It is nice to just have it all done
though. It was fun, but too much stress.
Yesterday was ward conference and they asked me to translate
Sacrament Meeting for the stake president and others who couldn't speak
Spanish. I did pretty well except on the high councilman who did all of the
sustainings. He was just burning through those lists and that was a struggle.
Other than that not too much happened. We were able to get
back in contact with Eloina. She had changed her phone number, that's why we
hadn't been able to contact her. But she still seems interested, which is good.
She was really the only person we were able to contact though.
As for your questions,
Baleadas themselves are pretty easy to make, it is just that
they taste a lot better with homemade tortillas. Good thing Elder Hernandez's
mom sent us the recipe, so I should be well practiced by the time I get home.
We heard that announcement in the broadcast last night about
facebook and a bunch of other stuff. I am sure President Calderwood will be
quick to apply that though. He is very forward about using technology. Maybe it
is something about his degree in computers or something.
Thats all my time for today,
Love you all,
Elder Pearce
